Forum: texts Subject: RIP Encyclopaedia Brittanica

Now that the Encyclopaedia Britannica is exclusively in On-line format, let us really compare the scope and content of Encyclopaedia Brittanica versus Wikipedia. There is no contest in that regard, Wikipedia wins hands-down. I asked the librarian at a college where I teach why they still subscribe to the Encyclopaedia Britannica? There are no good answers other than the stubbornness of academia still grasping at straws and denying the reality that the Internet as a resource tool has replaced most publishing house models which claimed exclusivity with regards to Information and knowledge.
